TODAY lands €2.8M to scale AI agents that take the admin off financial advisors' desks

Copenhagen-based TODAY has closed a €2.8M seed round co-led by HTGF and InsurTech Gateway to scale its compliance-first AI sales operating system for financial and insurance advisors — agents that transcribe client meetings, automate back-office work, coach sales performance, and even answer incoming calls. More than 3,500 advisors across the DACH region already use the platform.

TODAY, a Copenhagen- and Berlin-based AI startup, announced on Thursday that it has closed a €2.8 million seed round to scale its AI sales operating system for financial and insurance advisors. The round was co-led by High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) and InsurTech Gateway, with SeedX, Lucid Capital, former HDI CEO Herbert Rogenhofer, and Tech11 founder Pierre Dubosq also participating, the company said in its announcement. The funding comes more than a year after TODAY raised a €1 million pre-seed.

What the AI agents actually do

TODAY's platform supports advisors before, during, and after client meetings. Its assistant transcribes meetings in real time — anonymised, with no audio stored — and automatically generates documentation compliant with the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD), based on each advisor's own templates. A real-time assist feature surfaces objection-handling responses and next-best-action prompts during live calls, while "AskTODAY" lets advisors query their entire conversation history by chat, EU-Startups reported.

There is also a training product: an AI simulation environment where advisors hold voice conversations with configurable AI customers across DISC personality profiles — earning IDD continuing-education credits in the process. Beyond meetings, the agents handle routine back-office tasks, answer incoming calls, and coach advisors on their sales performance, Tech.eu reported.

3,500 advisors and the compliance-first pitch

Since launch, TODAY says it has grown to more than 3,500 advisors across large insurers, distributors, and independent brokers in the DACH region. Its own reported numbers: advisors save an average of five hours per week on administrative work, generate up to 10% more revenue, and capture around 50 times more insights from client conversations. Those are company claims, not independently verified figures — but the traction is real enough to have drawn two specialist investors as co-leads.

"Michael and Artem combine rare experience in scaling financial services businesses with an exceptional ability to execute at speed," said Tizian Hoppen, Senior Investment Manager at HTGF, which described TODAY as building "the vertical AI layer that will remove this friction from sales professionals' day-to-day work." InsurTech Gateway's Robert Lumley added that the next wave of AI at insurers is not about experiments but about embedding intelligence into every advisor's daily processes.

The timing is deliberate: advisors face pressure from pension reforms, accelerated market consolidation, and tightening regulatory compliance — while existing technology, TODAY argues, has not kept pace and compliant AI solutions have been missing. "While AI reshuffles financial advice, we scale the human touch," said CEO Michael Gackstatter. "Our agents take over the admin, so advisors can spend their time with clients."

Why vertical AI is eating regulated finance

TODAY was founded in 2024 by Gackstatter and CTO Artem Demchenkov. Gackstatter was previously a founding team member and CPO at CLARK, billed as Europe's only profitable InsurTech unicorn; Demchenkov was CTO of Billie, the buy-now-pay-later startup. The new capital will accelerate development and commercial rollout of the agentic AI platform to cover the entire front and back office across the DACH region.

The strategic read: a generic chatbot cannot do this job. Transcribing regulated client conversations requires anonymisation and no audio storage; documentation must be IDD-compliant; the training simulator's IDD credits turn a compliance burden into a product feature. The moat is not the agent — it is the regulatory packaging around it. That is exactly the kind of vertical, compliance-first AI that incumbents buy rather than build, and it explains why a €2.8M seed in a sleepy corner of European financial services deserves attention well beyond it.
