Verso raises $6M: AI interviewers that build a living consumer knowledge base — for teams and agents alike
France-based Verso raised a $6 million seed round led by Angular Ventures to automate consumer research end to end — AI-moderated video interviews, automated analysis, and a queryable consumer knowledge base. Ferrero, Orange and Michelin are already customers.
French startup Verso has raised $6 million in seed funding to automate consumer research end to end — from study design and participant recruitment to AI-moderated video interviews and automated analysis. The round was led by Angular Ventures, and more than 30 companies, including Ferrero, Orange and Michelin, already use the platform, Tech.eu reported on October 8.
The interview room, automated
Verso manages the entire consumer-research workflow in one place. Its AI conducts video interviews that adapt in real time — adjusting follow-up questions based on what the respondent just said — and then synthesizes findings from thousands of hours of conversations into a knowledge base that teams can revisit and query whenever new questions arise.
Rather than shipping a static report at the end of each study, Verso builds consumer personas that get richer as new research is conducted, letting teams compare segments and track how attitudes shift over time. The company claims the approach delivers insights around ten times faster and at a quarter of the cost of a traditional research agency, while speaking to around 15 times more consumers.
A knowledge layer for agents, not just humans
The more interesting bet is where Verso thinks this ends up. Co-founder Lydia Bellahouel — formerly at BCG, where she watched large companies lose "hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue each year because they couldn't access usable consumer insights when making decisions" — frames Verso as a "consumer knowledge layer": "accessible to business teams today and to the AI agents in their workflows tomorrow."
Qualitative interviews are the starting point, but Verso is expanding the layer to quantitative data, social listening and other sources, with agent interfaces designed so that AI agents embedded in existing workflows can query consumer insight during their own analysis. In other words, the research doesn't sit in a PDF — it becomes infrastructure that software can ask questions of.
The round and what's next
The $6 million seed was led by Angular Ventures, with participation from 100in, Kima Ventures, Olympe Capital, Sharpstone Capital and a group of business angels; Verso is also backed by startup studio Hexa. Co-founded by Bellahouel and Camille Epitalon, the company will use the money to integrate additional consumer data sources, build out the agent-access layer, and expand beyond France — including into the US — while hiring across engineering and go-to-market roles, The SaaS News reported.
The open question is the one every AI-research tool now faces: whether AI-moderated interviews produce answers as honest and deep as human-moderated ones, and whether synthesized personas hold up when real money rides on them. Verso's answer is volume and speed — talk to fifteen times more consumers, refresh the personas continuously, and let the knowledge base compound. Ferrero, Orange and Michelin buying in suggests the pitch is landing.
