Automation Anywhere to acquire Boost.ai: the enterprise AI conversation, from first message to finished back-office work
Automation Anywhere entered a definitive agreement to acquire enterprise conversational-AI firm Boost.ai from Nordic Capital — its second AI acquisition in a year — betting the next enterprise AI battleground is connecting a customer conversation to the back-office work that resolves it.
Automation Anywhere announced on October 7, 2026 that it has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Boost.ai, the enterprise conversational-AI company, from private-equity firm Nordic Capital. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The deal is Automation Anywhere's second AI acquisition in about a year, following its late-2025 purchase of Aisera, which added enterprise knowledge and automated employee service to the platform. Where Aisera covered the employee side of the house, Boost.ai covers the customer side: chat and voice AI for customer experience.
The Autonomous Enterprise pitch
Automation Anywhere describes the combination as another step toward what it calls the Autonomous Enterprise — an operating model in which business functions run up to 80% autonomously or with AI assistance. Boost.ai would extend that vision into customer experience, so AI can take a request from a customer or employee and carry it through middle- and back-office execution.
CEO and chairman Mihir Shukla framed the logic in plain terms: "With Automation Anywhere and Boost.ai, we intend to be the leading offering to give every enterprise an autonomous operation that listens, decides, and acts across all three." Boost.ai CEO Jerry Haywood said the deal would "connect the conversation, including voice, directly to the systems and people who get the work done, so a customer's request is handled from start to finish."
COO and co-founder Ankur Kothari described the mechanism as a "Conversation-to-Outcome Loop": a customer or employee expresses a need, the AI understands intent and context, reasons within company rules, coordinates agents, people and systems — then executes the work across the enterprise applications required to deliver the outcome.
What Boost.ai brings
Boost.ai serves hundreds of customer organizations, with particular strength in Europe and in regulated industries — financial services, telecommunications and insurance. Its platform supports more than 36 languages and keeps security and privacy aligned with GDPR and HIPAA requirements, backed by an independent SOC 2 report. The architecture blends natural language understanding with generative and agentic AI, and the company says it reaches a 90%+ resolution rate in production deployments. Gartner has placed Boost.ai in its Magic Quadrant for Conversational AI Platforms four years running.
Voice is the strategic piece. The company says its voice capabilities have reached the point where enterprise conversations feel natural, and it names sales, customer service, healthcare, outbound calling and field service among the use cases. Automation Anywhere plans to structure the combined offering around three motions: Autonomous Customer Operations (voice, chat, digital channels and AI agents tied to the work that delivers outcomes), Autonomous Employee Operations (AI-powered employee service plus agentic automation across IT, finance and HR) and Autonomous Business Operations (end-to-end orchestration across ERP, CRM and other enterprise systems).
The momentum behind it
Automation Anywhere is buying from a position of strength in its core metric. Citing its Q2 FY27 results, the company said AI bookings made up nearly 70% of new and upsell bookings over the past six quarters, that agentic AI executions grew 5x over the past year, and that it now delivers nearly half a billion AI agent and automation executions per year.
The enterprise AI conversation is shifting. The first era was about copilots and agents completing individual tasks; Automation Anywhere is betting the winning pitch is taking a request and carrying the whole process through to completion, pulling in people only where judgment or an exception is needed. BofA Securities advised Automation Anywhere as exclusive financial advisor, with Winston Taylor as M&A counsel; Santander advised Boost.ai.
