Portuguese startup Granter has raised €1.6 million to expand an AI-powered platform that helps businesses navigate European public funding, Tech.eu reported on November 3, 2026. The round was led by 3XP Global through its Impact Innovation Fund, and it brings Granter’s total funding to €2 million.

Granter’s pitch is aimed at a familiar bottleneck: public funding programmes can be worth pursuing and punishing to apply for. Applications demand extensive documentation and long preparation periods, which puts smaller businesses — the ones least likely to have a grants specialist on staff — at a disadvantage. Granter says its AI-powered automation removes much of that burden, cutting preparation work the company describes as taking weeks, and often involving specialist consultants, to under an hour.

An AI agent for funding paperwork

Granter’s platform is built to cover the full funding cycle: identifying public funding opportunities, preparing applications, and managing funded projects, with a particular focus on SMEs and startups. The company recently relaunched its AI Grant Consultant with a chat-based interface, so organisations can interact directly with an AI agent to find opportunities, draft applications, and manage approved projects. A free trial lets users start preparing applications immediately.

The company’s record since its breakthrough moment is the context for the raise. Granter won PITCH, Web Summit’s startup competition, in November 2025. Since then, it says it has supported more than 140 businesses in applications for over €30 million in funding. Its named clients include ANA Airports, MC Sonae, Galp, the Portuguese Navy, and Fidelidade.

The round

The €1.6 million round was led by 3XP Global through its Impact Innovation Fund, under the Venture Capital Programme of the Capitalisation and Resilience Fund, managed by Portugal’s state development bank, Banco Português de Fomento. Celtis Venture Partners, Gateway Ventures, US HR technology company Deel, and angel investor Bracken Darrell, CEO of VF Corporation and former CEO of Logitech, also participated. A second report confirms the same figures: a €1.6 million seed round, led by 3XP Global, taking total funding to €2 million.

Bernardo Seixas, Granter’s CEO and co-founder, framed the problem as access rather than merit: “Today, thousands of companies with solid projects are left out of public funding, not for lack of merit, but because they do not have the time, the team or the knowledge to deal with complex, bureaucratic processes. Granter exists to change that. Our technology removes that barrier and democratises access to public funding, putting it within reach of those who generate jobs, innovation and impact in their communities.”

The new capital will support further product development, team expansion, and international growth. Granter plans to more than double its workforce by the end of the year and to expand beyond Portugal — still its primary market — into Spain, Germany, and Italy, where it says it already has investors and initial commercial connections. Entry into the United States is planned over the medium term.

What the announcement does not say

The reports are precise about the round and the expansion plan, and silent on much else. No valuation was disclosed, and no baseline headcount was given, so “more than double its workforce” cannot be turned into a number of hires. No revenue figures were reported, and the “under an hour” claim is the company’s own description of what its automation can do — it has not been independently tested in the reporting. The traction figures, too, are as Granter reports them: more than 140 businesses supported, and applications for over €30 million in funding since November 2025.

What is established is concrete: a named lead investor, a €1.6 million round, €2 million raised in total, a working product with named clients, and a dated expansion plan that starts with three European markets. For a startup whose product is removing paperwork, the next test is operational — whether the same AI agent that helped win PITCH can carry the weight of three new markets, in three more funding systems, without the weeks of work creeping back in.
