OPPO puts Manus inside its phones: Agent Mode brings multi-step tasks to the Find X10
OPPO announced today a collaboration with Manus, the AI agent platform, that puts agentic AI directly into its phones: Manus’ capabilities will power a new Agent Mode in OPPO’s AI Mind Pilot, debuting on the upcoming Find X10 Series with ColorOS 17. The pitch is a shift from answering questions to doing the work — one prompt, finished result.
Agent Mode is designed to understand a user’s end goal, break it down into steps, identify the relevant information, select the appropriate tools, and deliver a finished result — including working directly with files and photos stored on the device. The example OPPO gives is trip planning: the assistant finds flight tickets, hotel bookings, restaurant reservations and attraction tickets scattered across apps, organizes them, and combines them with relevant online information into a personalized, day-by-day itinerary — without the user manually gathering and uploading anything.
From answering to doing
The same machinery applies to creative and professional tasks. Ask the assistant to find and organize photos from a trip, locate specific images, or combine existing files with online information, and it can assemble a presentation, proposal or portfolio from a single prompt. “Agentic AI marks an important shift from answering questions to helping users get things done,” said Kai Tang, President of Software Engineering at OPPO.
“Smartphones are central to people’s daily lives and support many of the tasks they handle every day, making them a natural platform for personal AI agents,” said Tao Zhang, Co-Founder & CPO of Manus, pointing to OPPO’s system-level integration as the way to make advanced agents accessible through “simple, natural interactions.”

Privacy is kept on the phone
An assistant that rummages through your files needs rules, and OPPO is drawing the line on-device. ColorOS 17 uses on-device models to understand and organize relevant information locally: for local tasks like finding, organizing or renaming files and photos, the original content stays on the device and is not shared with Manus. When a task requires external processing, AI Mind Pilot asks for the user’s explicit confirmation before any content is uploaded or shared — and users retain control over what information is accessed, which actions are taken, and whether external processing is allowed at all.

Why this pairing matters
Manus has had a dramatic year. The AI agent startup raised more than $500M earlier this month, its first round since Beijing ordered Meta’s $2B acquisition unwound — and it is now going direct to devices rather than through a Big Tech parent (AI Frontier Post, October 8). For OPPO, the bet is that the next smartphone differentiator is task completion, not another chatbot — and it is moving fast: OPPO also unveiled ColorOS 17 globally today, and the Find X10 Series makes its global debut October 21 in Mallorca, Spain, according to OPPO’s newsroom.
What’s still unknown: which markets get Agent Mode first, and which devices beyond the Find X10 Series will support it. OPPO says availability and supported-market details come at launch. The practical test, as ever with agents, will be reliability — which apps Agent Mode can actually reach, which tools it can call, and whether one-prompt trip planning works outside the demo. Phones as agent platforms is the industry’s next frontier; OPPO just staked its claim with Manus.
